Is it normal to become offended when people post rude comments about the usa?

Many people (mostly Americans and Europeans) hate the USA. If you ask them why, they spit out something that they heard from someone else and there is really no substance to what they say. It annoys me when people from other countries rant about the US but if their safety is threatened, the United States is the first place they run to for help.
I'm a duel citizen, living in Ireland but with American parents. Everyone here hates the US, but if there was ever a problem, they'd expect the US to step in.

Also, I feel like if someone said the same things about the US, but about an African or Asian country, they'd be called racist. It's okay to blast the US, but not Nigeria, Myanmar or Egypt because that would be "racist."
Like all countries, the US has made mistakes, but yet it receives more criticism than North Korea, Myanmar/Burma and Saudi Arabia.

So, my question: Is it normal to get slightly offended when people blast the US off so liberally?

    Yes, it's normal.

It annoys me when people generalize the environment of the United States. This is a HUGE country, with many different types of environments. Maybe the city YOU went to was full of fat, lazy, whiny Americans, but the town that I came from isn't.

That's a good point. People tend to forget that the US is pretty big with a diverse economy and different cultures.

I liken world politics to king of the mountain.
America is a place where all cultures and nationalities have been assimilated in a good way (not like the Borg). We should fall back from the world stage, quit giving foreign aid and let it be known that we won't tolerate others who hinder our ability to conduct trade or live freely.

Normal, although i will admit there is plenty to critisize about the U.S. Some people are just very over the top about it

There's plenty to criticise about most countries in fairness.

First off no one runs to the U.S. For help. Canada doesn't. They are allies so they may help each other. Some people just have opinions. Many People hate America for their past and pride. Like the war of 1812 where they started a war with Canadians an we kicked their ass! Lol. Then ialmost all Americans say shit like we are the best country and most powerful country in the world! When clearly they aren't. Maybe in some ways they are but almost every country has some things that are the best in the world. I like the U.S. In ways, But some things suck about it. I'm from and live in Canada and I think some things suck here but other things are the best in the world here. Like Steven Harper can go suck dick. You should just let others have their own opinion. You might as well say blacks have no soul if you think everyone runs to the U.S. For help etc.

Well here is something you can take pride in. The US didn't have to exchange money to pay for years. They have fucked up in recent years but much of the world is carried by the US if they realize it or not.

I find it annoying when people attack others for things like that as well. I don't care if your US, UK, Canada, Australia, Africa, Asia, Other America, Europe, Mexico or wherever you are from.

Bashing someone since they were born in another country is prejudice. Its the same as mocking someone for religion, race, sexuality, income or gender. People don't like being told "Fuck you your black, Hispanic, Asian, white". Its no different saying "Fuck you stupid American".

USA are always going on about freedom of speech that they have that other countries don't have.

Well, prove it by being able to handle comments esp on the freaking internet!

People write bad things about my country too, like its poverty and things like that. They say things like that without even knowing the history. I know my country is not poor, its just that foreign people just don't understand the culture. In fact it was the only source of diamonds and gold before Africa. Ask the Queen of England! Rich countries were not rich from the beginning, so it would take time for my country too. After all it had its own problems still its the biggest democracy. Whatever happened to my country was because of the fact that its rulers were not united and were fighting for small provinces of which westerns and Mughal's took advantage of. I don't care, what they say. Because I know the reality.

Your country looks pretty poor to me, but you're right, I probably don't know much about your culture. I've never been to your country, but I do know that it has a lot of culture. Plus, I like the food and the cool dance routines in the movies!

Maybe you're being a little precious here. The US has the most dominant culture of any nation, more people are just exposed to its strengths and weaknesses. Yes I mentioned strengths as well as weaknesses because the US is admired as much if not more for those than any of it's weaknesses.
And I don't know what rock you live under, but if you've never seen criticism of north Korea, Myanmar/Burma or Saudi Arabia then I find that very hard to believe, and it's incredibly rare to hear anyone acknowledging any of their strengths.

USA isn't the leading country for culture. But it is great in some ways but is horrible in other ways.

I disagree. I recently traveled to Denmark for a UN- related meeting and I had to sit and listen to a bunch of Danish representatives tear the US apart. Yet when North Korea and Somalia came into question, they all agreed that: "North Korea is a great country with a strong government. The only problem is that the government has some minor anti-western issues, other than that, North Korea is a peace-loving nation."

The words they used for the US were: "war-mongering," "corrupt" and "a cheating state."
I never said that N.Korea, Myanmar or Saudi Arabia AREN'T criticized, I said that they are criticized LESS than the United States - which is wrong to me.

That's a good point, and to be honest, I can't think of one positive thing about North Korea.
