Is it normal to be this bonded with someone?

I have a friend that I met in grade 10 and I instantly felt connected. Him and I talked on MSN (remember that?) all night after school and when we hung out it was always so much fun. He was a year younger than me which elicited a lot of snarky comments from my peer group (we were teenage girls, so I guess this kind of happens). He was the first person I have ever felt a strong, emotional connection to. At one point I thought it might be love, but I realized it wasn't. He is just a very, very important friend. I am instantly happy when I see him and he is someone I want in my life forever. The only other person I feel this way about is my boyfriend, but I am absolutely 100% POSITIVE that I do not love this friend in any sort of romantic way. So, is it normal for me to have such a strong bond without having romantic feelings for him whatsoever?

I really don't think so. It seems like a very bonded brother-sister relationship to me. Then again, I've never asked. I don't really think his behaviour suggests it though?

I'm not quite sure. He was with someone, they broke up, but now I think he's seeing her again.

I know what you mean. Except for me, I've realised that my feelings are romantic. I don't know about my friend, but I'm hoping that they feel the same way. Just be warned that if your friend does, he might get you both on the MTV show "Friendzone".

Well, I know when we were younger he DID have feelings for me, but never acted on them in fear of being rejected because I was older. He told me he regretted never telling me, but that was years ago. Our friendship has evolved to be more brotherly-sisterly instead of potential boyfriend-girlfriend. He does things to make me laugh and smile and vice versa. He doesn't believe in the friendzone, so even if his feelings were still there he wouldn't be the type to take it to MTV haha. I hope everything works out with you and your potential lover. Best friends always make the best partners to have in relationships :)
