Is it normal to be sad over getting rid of a car?

So, Yesterday, I found that my father's original Landrover Discovery had failed it's MOT, So badly that it cannot be repaired (Split Axle) so it needs to be replaced. I literally cried for around an hour. He has had the Landrover since I was 7 (18 now) and I can't bear the thought of it being sent to The Great Crusher In The Sky! Any tips on how to get over it? I Feel like crying just typing this!(Pic is not of car, but shows the model)

I'm still sad about my old Patrol 4WD, so old she was a Datsun: I had to get rid of her when I couldn't drive her anywhere without bits falling off and being scared the roadworthy cops would put her off the road. At least she went to someone who wanted the good old diesel motor, which was really the only thing worth salvaging.

My sadness is due to having to accept I'll never again be that adventurous woman who felt she could go anywhere and do anything.

It's the memories associated with the vehicle, not the vehicle itself and you'll always have those.

You probably have a lot of memories of happy times in that car, so of course it's normal that you'll miss it.

I was heart broken when I sold my Toyota truck. We'd been to Alaska from the Keys twice, Cal a dozen times, and untold trips up and down the East Coast without one single breakdown. 400k and it never failed me once!
But I was leaving for good and our boat is not big enough to carry a car on it. bye bye

I once had a Chevy 454 SS I had to get rid of. That thing had a lot of torque! It ate me up inside because it's a rare truck, and I'll never get my hands on one of those again.
