Is it normal to be paranoid about the supernatural all the time?

Most people are afraid of monsters when they're little then grow out of it, but 18 and am haunted by extremely vivid images of disfigured beings walking around the house or building i'm in, it happens more often when I'm alone, but can honestly happen any time of day no matter who i'm with. it's only gotten worse since I was younger rather than better. It's getting so difficult to do anything by myself because of this paranoia--I've lost so much sleep and made myself sick with worry over things I know could never happen. I've read that this is a symptom of Schizotypical Personality Disorder, but I wouldn't know without a diagnosis. I'm so exhausted and scared, I don't know what to do anymore...Am I alone?

  • I used to be like that. I still am a little. I keep picturing the Devil watching me and thinking "What if the supernatural is real and that people can't see them? What if the Devil is real and he's watching me right now". I tend to shake it off. I remember this one time I was all alone at half 2 in the morning and I had it while out in the town. Just to teach my pussy self a lesson I decided to walk through the woods home. Was pretty funny.

Try to think of it this way; If those things are there, thery aren't hurting you. They haven't hurt you at all, so it doesn't matter that they're there. Either can't hurt you or they don't want to and they just look scary. If they keep scaring you, remind yourself while you look right at them that they haven't hurt you, so you can conclude that they aren't going to. You can try small experiments to see if you'll get hurt. Very small. When you see that you don't get hurt, you may not even give a shit that they're there.

Some people are more sensitive with the paranormal than others. If they aren't attacking you, it's better to ignore them. Pay them no mind. Negative spirits tend to enjoy getting a rise out of people. Don't give them the satisfaction. If you want them out of your building or at least out of your apartment there are methods for repelling them.

  • In this reality we have certain laws that restrict us from interacting with other dimensions that are right in front of us. There are beings there as well, some which interact with us more than others.
Some humans are more in tune with stuff like this than others. It can make someones brain go haywire when they pick up on too much of it. I often wonder how much they effect this world too. I was recently thinking about writing a topic about whether I am cursed but I dont really feel like writting about it and often wonder if acknowledgement of these things attracts them. Often I keep much of my thoughts to myself, even on here because I don't want to make things more real than they are.

There is no such thing as 'supernatural', since the prefix 'super-' means 'over' or 'above', which are 'Relative Directions', and relative directions do not exist in 'nature'.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relative_direction

'Monsters' are mythological creations, and also do not exist in nature.

    Now do you feel better?

You asked because you are afraid. As stated previously, you are afraid of something(s) that do not, or can not exist in nature. What you are afraid of, is a figment of your own imagination, probably [partially] learned from others.

If you learn that it is impossible for these things to exist, then you should be able to conciliate your fears.

        Violation.

Name-calling is in transgression of The Rules, and in this case, is inappropriate, as I am neither a 'stupid' or 'foolish' person, nor am I a person who suffers from 'mental retardation'.
It is sometimes offensive to use this term, in an unwarrarantable way.
Please try to reform your behaviour towards more civility. Thank you.

You "communicate" with a figment of your imagination, which does indeed indicate that you are more than likely stupid, foolish or mentally retarded.

I wonder if you read and listen to a lot of Creepy Pastas, because that can mess with your head, my friend. Since you have such an active imagination I would highly suggest that you meditate, and do visualizations about good beings that are made of light. Try to imagine yourself surrounded by angels instead of demons. I like to think of the brain as being much like a computer; try not to fill it up with junk that could give you a virus.

I think you shoukd try and get a professional diagnosis. I find this worrying as lack of sleep can cause so many problems

Apparently, you are not alone if there are disfigured beings around you much of the time. If there were no disfigured beings around you when you were alone, then I think you would be alone.
