Is it normal to be overwhelmed about buying a home for the first time?

excuse my grammar i'll just be typing away
U.S. Americans please help me out...
Google had way too much info to process and I don't have any friends that can help me with this... I would like to know your experience with this:

Is it during the pre-qualification process/letter or when putting down an offer or when applying for mortgage loan that you look for homebuyers' grants? Haven't gotten any helpful answers from agents or lenders. Too vague. Very frustrating going back and forth with these people.

Can these grants go towards condominiums... or does it have to be a detached house?

When people talk about first homebuyer grants, is that synonymous with down payment assistance??

Thanks in advance,
soon to be new homebuyer and a bit overwhelmed as shit

Locking one's self into a 30 year commitment has to be a terrify thing. I guess that's why I've always bought whatever I wanted with cash. I HATE being in debt, so I've made it a rule in life that if I can't afford to buy it outright, I can't afford it.
It's probably saved me a gazillion dollars in interest, too.

You should look into a home in inner Detroit. You can get an amazing home in Detroit for just $10,000 maybe less. Great neighborhood, great people, super safe, lots of really decent hardworking people. Trust me on this
