Is it normal to be obsessed with someone in a nonsexual or non romantic way?

I have always thought that in order to be obsessed or infatuated with someone, ud have to have some sort of attraction there. The thing is, I was once obsessed with someone but I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy kissing them as I haven't felt kissing to be pleasurable in the past. I know I loved hugging this person and giving pecks on the lips but if I didn't enjoy making out, does that mean my obsession was for nothing?
