There's more to someone's sex than just the genitals, there's also hormones, secondary sex characteristics (body shape, body hair, facial features etc), social markers like clothing/styling.
I'm a gay man and I (respectfully) wouldn't be attracted to transgender women, because most look more like women than men even if they still have a dick. On the flip side, there are plenty of transgender men I would definitely find attractive and date, even with a vagina.
