Is it normal to be honest about things you shouldn't with new friends?

I have diarrhea of the mouth sometimes with new acquaintances & can't control what I say about certain personal things. Like example "Oh my brother used to be in prison." or " Im obsessed with gory movies." I need serious advice guys how to start things out with people you just met. Tell me your experiences.

Why not just listen more? Then (as most educated people do) think before you speak!!

  • Makes the conversation less, dumb and adds flavor to the conversation. I don't see Anything wrong with it, if they judge you harshly for what you have to say, then find better friends!

Happens to me all of the time. I get nervous and don't consider most of my information personal. Do what joybird says.

Ask them about their lives and just listen and keep asking about them. They'll like you and you hardly said shit. Then paraphrase what they said when they paused like they expect an answer from you. Trust me, works for me every time. I have tons of friends. I am just no good at keeping contact.

If you find that you say the wrong thing spontaneously, pause for half a second and come up with something else.

Hey, they're going to find out sooner or later. I like up front people.

      I agree with you.

I do the same. I just talk about whatever pops in my head. But I'm starting to think more before I just ramble on about whatever.
