Is it normal to be heartbroken even if you didn't like the other person much?

I was seeing a guy for 2 months, he was a lovely guy, but I didn't really like him much. He liked me a lot, and I could tell. I liked the way he treated me. However, I believe he could tell I wasn't into him as much as he was into me, and he suggested that we just be friends. I was heartbroken. Is this normal?

What ever you are feeling, it was probably 10x worst for him.

Well, if you weren't as into him as he was into you, can you really blame him? I know it's painful, but it's important that those loving feelings be mutual between two people who are in a romantic relationship. It's awesome that this guy treated/treats you well, but there should be more to a relationship than than that. This guy deserves someone who shares his deep affections.

Hey, at least now you have a higher standard to which to hold future suitors. Think of it as a measuring stick of sorts.

    • I was relieved, but still heartbroken. It's very strange.

Sounds like you were more attached to his kindness and good behavior than to him.

This is why people always make a big deal about finding Mr./Miss. right as they tend not to grow on trees. The stars are not always in that proverbial alignment we always hope for.

Not normal. You meet people you do shit with them then you move on that's life.
