Is it normal to be happy that barney stinson remained single in the end?

I mean, I have noticed a trend where watchers insist that characters such as Barney who fuck bitches and are happy about it are in fact not happy and they should learn the error of their ways end up with some particular woman.

But why didn't people get the hint the first time, when Barney and Robin's relationship failed, and it literally failed on many, many levels? It literally sapped all their energy and vigor out of them. And yet people were still disappointed about the HIMYM ending?

Barney Stinson is a character whose main selling point is that he's single and fucks bitches. That's what he does. That's what's so great about him and that's why so many like him. So why were so many people disappointed about the fact that he and Robin got divorced? To me it was practically a godsend, a return tothe status-quo of Barney's carefree bitch-fucking days. The way it should be and should remain.

It's this really shit show, which ran for about 100 seasons and only had one funny character 'Barney Stinson'
and he wasn't even the main character.

Yes it's normal, because he was obviously gay.

Ted ended up with Robin in the end after his first wife passed, and Barney cheated on Robin and she divorced him. I liked the ending.

Yeah, the actor is queer, but we're talking about the character, who clearly isn't :D

Meh. It's ironic, because NPH is queer, but I love him in Harold and Kumar.

Barney, the drunk? He got married? I can't believe it! This is what I get for not watching the show for so long.

I hated the ending, not because he was single but how it was handled, it told and didn't show, the whole thing felt incredibly rushed and like they'd written themselves into a corner, still, not as frustrating as the sopranoes and not as mind numbingly awful as the end of neon genisis evangelion but it's definitely no breaking bad finale
