Is it normal to be embarrassed by stupid remarks your kid makes?

Whenever we go out shopping, he says stupid things that I never hear other kids his age saying. I know other parents are listening and judging him (and by extension, me). I recently told him not to talk to mommy unless we're at home. Is this normal?

Why don't you just throw IT in a dumpster and drink some malt liquor? That's obviously what you want.

Force him in your kitchen oven and threaten to cook him alive if he misbehaves again

Simple solution: corporal punishment. Give him a few hard slaps and kicks and his behaviour might improve.

Ah, the joys of parenthood. Especially for someone like you who had no right to give life to a child that is less important to you than what people may think of you.
Good on ya mom. Probably not going to make mom of the year, though.

My record is only 50%, an F I believe.
One kid turned out excellently, but the other has taken 30 years to get on track.
I don't know what I should have done differently. At least neither got into drugs, alcohol or unwed motherhood.

    I'm guessing he's about 5.
    1. He needs to shake the sillys out, that means lots of exercise.
    2. Talk to him like an adult when your out, ask him questions and get him to observe and comment on his surroundings.

Well now you know how your parents felt when you were a child. It is a parent's curse that they place on their own children. It goes like this... "I hope when you have children that they are just like you." And you have given evidence that the curse actually works. If what the kid says is really bad, smack them upside the head. If it is just stupid crap, let them be. They will grow out of it.

Well, that's going to be fun next time he needs the toilet when you're out!

Seriously though, what's he doing that's so terrible?

  • My mother would spank me whenever I cried in public. It took me years to realize she was punishing me because I was embarrassing her. What a terrible, selfish reason to punish a child.
