Is it normal to be depressed more than a week due to a tragic end in an anime?

My brother is 19 and loves to watch anime. Since last week he is very quite and looks depressed(usually he's cheerful and interactive), when I asked him what's wrong with him he told me that he saw one anime "Your lie in April" (i guess), and it has very tragic end of protagonist, he was talking about it like if an actual real person has died and he is lamenting for the person.
He also said that he never'd felt such torrential emotions before and now his perspective to see the world has changed a lot.
He's still doing his studies and other stuff but is much quite.
I'm worried for him.

Haha, sounds like me. Some people just get very attached to the characters in that they essentially become 'real' in their mind. I got depressed for about a week too after finishing a book in which the protagonist dies. Tell him to avoid any 'tragic' toned things from now on.

Stories can make you feel things and change the way you see things sometimes. Maybe the reality of terminal illness has never touched him like this.

Not gonna lie, I had to walk away from Attack On Titan during one episode.
