Is it normal to be confused with ます / です /ますか / ですか ?

I'm currently playing games in Japanese, despite learning how use masu/desu and so on, I see them a lot when I play in Japanese. It is even confusing when using (を) - wo . Is this normal?

-ます is a verb form (ex: 食べます = I eat/I will eat), and -です I think is used exclusively to describe the state of something (ex: 寒いです = It's cold). か functions about the same as a question mark (ex: 寒いですか = Is it cold?).

-を indicates the object being acted upon (ex: ご飯を食べます = I eat rice/I will eat rice)

If you think Japanese is hard, try pooping into a pickle jar from 7 feet.
