Is it normal to be bbf with opposite sex without being rumored to be more than that?

I have a male freind. We
both know that our realtionship is like brother and sister. We go to the same school he is shy,but he is very smart. I don't take advantage of him just because he is smart. Even though he does not get along with many people I am his best friend.

We started to hangout when I entered highschool. We are in our last year and he still does not have many friends. Peopel started to spread rumors about me and him. Just because we hang out does not mean we are dating. Everytime I ask my parents to sleep at his house they take it the wrong way.

No one in my family likes him. My "friends" stopped hanging out with me because I started hanging out with him. He us not even allowed in my house,so we study at his.

Our society is backwards and obsessed with segregating men and women. Of course you can just be friends. Hopefully people will leave you alone soon.

Sounds like you should be dating.

  • Ok this kind of relationship always has a sexual latency in there. You must know that. But yeah it's totally normal and I am glad to hear you are aware of how your "friends" behave in this context, so that you know people around you better.
