Is it normal to be annoyed with overly affectionate couple at work?

Two people at my work started dating and have been for the last month. Ever since they have they are all over each other all the time. It makes it super uncomfortable to sit in places where we all are suppose to have access to because they're canoodling. So most of the time everyone decides to just avoid them completely wherever they are at. There are other couples at work here. However they are not like making out and super touchy all the time. So it's not really so irritating.

It's gonna be Hell when they break up.

It's certainly not appropriate behavior at work, and extravagant public displays of affection always seem to me to be mainly about immature people wanting to prove to their audience that they're getting some.

    As if anyone really cares...

If you think they're making people feel uncomfortable now, just wait until they break up and decide they hate each other.

Has anyone raised this issue with their supervisor(s)?

    • The higher ups already asked them to stop and they refused to listen. I know it makes other people uncomfortable but I don't think anyone lower ranking would be willing to complain. As they're be seen as a snitch.

They should at least go out and get into their car if they're going to have oral sex.

May as well have anal as well. That job doesn't sound like it's even worth worrying about. You can make minimum wage doing mindless, heavy labor practically anywhere.

Yep. I'm thinking a carpeted van might be in their future.

Well at least everyone knows. My previous general manager was screwing another manager and giving her pay raises because of it. The idiots got caught at a park by other employees and were reported. They were both married, had children, and got their asses fired. lol

That's bullshit alright. Lots of couples meet at work. You think you have a better chance of finding love at a singles bar?

That's great. Makes no difference where you find it as long as you do.

Background to your post, work is rather vague.

Work could mean opening people's chest cavities & poking around with sharp pointy medical implements. Conversely it could mean shovelling pig excrement.

        • No it's not anything that pays a lot like a doctor. However we do work closely together and share a lunch place. It's not as dirty as shovling poo. We get minimum wage. It's a heavy labor job.

Or shoveling pig excrement into people's chest cavities.

It's annoying, but, maybe they're doing it just for that reason. To see how far they can go before someone tells them stop. Former business associate and I spent nearly every day together, and, the guy from the company we contracted with thought we were fucking, as did the bitchy office person. We got along extremely well, and were no strangers to touching or even the occasional quick-lip kiss (when you're on the road for hours and hours with someone, you grow closer), so, when we'd go to the office for meetings, would play it up just for fun.

One casual Friday, she wore faded, tight jeans that made her already perfect ass look even more perfect, had her long, dark curly hair down (which I loved..she looked so sexy like that), and a comfy, button-down shirt that showed just enough cleavage to tease. We were in the office, and she walked by me as I was sitting down, and I smacked her ass, making her laugh. In return, she was fun/play-slapping me, and we were very close, face to face, as if kissing. Little while later, I was putting her coat on for her, and wrapped my arms around her, causing the bitch office woman to say "Will you two cut it out already?", which only made us more active.

Even the manager guy who thought we were fucking said to me, privately without her, "What you guys do on the road is your business as long as our stuff is getting done, but, jeez..Try to keep your hands off each other when you're here. I just got an earful from Maggie about it..I don't like it, either, but can deal..She can't". We were good for a few meetings, then said, basically..Fuck her, we're going back to pissing her off and being physical with each other, even kissing in the office.

    • They were told to stop by higher ups as its actually against the pda policy. They basically told them they can "go duck themselves".

In that case, they're doing it on purpose and don't care about rules or policy. At least with former business associate and myself, we knew how far we'd take things before stopping on our own or our contract being threatened. Little bit was fun, just not an all-out show for everybody.

Heavy labor for minimum wage? Sounds like a shit job. Probably high turn-over so management overlooks the little things. And it is a little thing. Just ignore it and keep your eyes peeled for a better job. Take some classes and learn a trade. These shit jobs are just temporary, "Hopefully" and the employers don't give a fuck about their employees. They care about how much money they can make from your heavy labor and that's all they care about.
