Is it normal to be afraid of cats to the core?

I am more afraid of cats than anything else in my entire life. On day my brother said a cat had entered the house. I suddenly got very afraid and climbed upon the dining table and started looking around for it. I have seen many horror movies with cats possessed. I am not so afraid of anything else. I like to see cute cat pictures but I can't bear a cat nearby. When I was young we had a lot of pet cats but now they are all gone and I have developed a deep fear of cats.

    Hmmm, I see. You have a deep fear of who you truly are. By climbing up on to the table, you have begun to embrace your inner cat. This is the first step to recovery that you didn't even know you took. Next,I will pluck some of my tail feathers and send them to you. You shall proceed to tie them to a string and attach the sting to a ceiling fan. Turn the fan on low at first then have at it!

    It sounds like a phobia. I have some phobias too. Not everyone has phobias, but they're pretty mainstream.

        I have the sweetest, most gentle and doting Siamese cat. I can't imagine my cat scaring anyone, I honestly don't think he would even scare a mouse which is probably kinda weird.

    It does seem weird that you developed this phobia despite having grown up with cats. How do you feel about kittens? They're pretty nonthreatening, right? Maybe if you got a kitten it would help overcome your phobia. Of course it would grow into a cat, but you'd still see it as your cute little friend. (That's my theory anyway.)
