Is it normal to be able to solve brain teasers with a different method?
I found this "improve your IQ" brain teaser book laying around the house one day and I decided to try out some of the questions. I skipped straight to the back of the book because I wanted a challenge. All of the questions involve finding patterns with numbers, letters and/or shapes and then choosing from around 6-10 multiple choice answers where only 1 is the right answer.
I was surprising myself with how well I could answer the questions, but what was even more surprising is that my logic for figuring out the questions was completely different from what the answers explained. I seemed to just sort of "feel" what the answer looked like it should be or I had a different technique that turned out to be the right answer anyway. I ended up getting at least 80% of the questions right on the hardest 2 difficulty levels.
Is this normal? I'm not trying to boast about my smartness or anything by the way, I don't even know what my real IQ is in the first place.
