Is it normal to be able to perform for audience but not speak publicly?

Just wondering if it's strange that I can get up on stage and perform before an audience (act, solo dance, read etc) but I have some problems with my nerves when doing something like a presentation or instruction?

The frustrating thing about it is I'd rather be able to present instead of perform!!

  • When you're doing something you're confident in, you're proud to show it off and in fact want to. You don't realize your fears anymore. For school presentations or whatever, for example, you fear that you might forget to say something or you might fail or whatever. At least that's how I feel :)

I don't know. I sometimes ask myself the same question. I mean, I used to have something similar. Whenever I would perform in front of audiences, I felt more comfortable doing it in front of people I didn't know. But if I saw my family out there, and friends, I'd get kind of choked up, and feel a little awkward. And as I've gotten older, I've gotten more nervous about thing's so I don't really perform anymore.

Maybe you have more faith in the things that you do on stage rather then a presentation. You're more confident in your dancing or acting, etc.
