Is it normal to be able to fade your hearing out at will?

I was reading a post where people can blur their vision, which I can do, but I could not find a post talking about how I can fade out my hearing.. Like I can still hear but it is like the sound of being in an airplane that overlays every sound...

    It's not normal as such, but it is extremely useful. Also i think most people can blur their vision.

    Yeah I can do it by turning my eyes as far up and to the right as they'll go. It strains my eye muscles though and it's painful, so I can't do it for very long.
    Is there an easier way to do it?
