Is it normal to be a republican

I've been a republican for 2 years. Ever since Donald trump run for presidency my family won't let me talk about being republican in public! I feel wrong. I have many of the same beliefs with republicans but some I disagree with. I think republicans aren't evil, just Donald makes us seem evil. Now when someone talks about republicans they say terrible things...Should I just be independent? or stay republican? Am I terrible for being one? I wont vote for trump! I may be republican but I know not to vote for a stupid, evil guy like him!

The difference between a republican and a democrat is slimmer than the difference between a calzone and a stromboli.

Maybe when you get closer to the center, but Liberal Democrats and Conservative Republicans differ in many ways.

It always gets closer to center in the general and after the election.

It's normal, and getting more common all the time, despite what the mainstream media and college students will try to convince you. Im a conservative Republican myself, although I alway have been. As far as converting to the right, or "Reagan-Democrats", as we refer to converts sometimes, have been on the rise again, even since before Trump ran. I have known many who became Republican after Obama got elected and screwed thing up, a family friend of mine went from a (union) Democrat, to right wing quicker and moreseo than Brian Griffin in the Family Guy episode where Rush Limbaugh saves his life! Unlike Brian however, it seems a better fit for him.

Considering the radical change in the Democratic party, it has disenfranchised many who believed in its old ways as a simple " party of the people, the working man's party" Now its the party of moronic, overzealous Eco crusaders and out of touch Intelligentsia who believe they are superior.
Considering the left also seems to encourage victimization and living off the government, while burying people in excess taxes and regulations, all the while making it harder for working class people and people in the military to do their job, no wonder people are leaving, and the left is scrambling to fill the empty seats with outsiders!

Let's just say being on the right is back in style!

(btw, the "alt-right" is not the homophobic white supremacist group the left wants you to believe, in fact their most well known member is a gay man of Greek decent! Sure, racist jokes and memes show up, but they do it to screw with the left, and parody their PC agenda).

You just be you. If you know it's going to cause an argument, keep your opinions to yourself.

It's totally normal. I'm not a republican but it's not abnormal to be one.

A chimp could do a better job than Trump and would have nicer hair too.
