Is it normal to be a musician, but hate music and find music-lovers stupid?

When a form of art becomes a job, you can begin to loathe it. I'm sure this is easier said than done, but...quit. Stop making music, and do something else. Even when you feel you must make more, don't. Resist until the urge to create is so strong, it takes hold of you, and creates itself. Then, mayhaps, you will have a piece you can truly identify with, that you will not detest, and it will allow you to appreciate the masterpieces of other musicians.

I'm a musician. Sometimes I think non musicians could never understand music the way I do so I'm kinda like "you can never truly appreciate that song like I can!" Maybe that's it?

I a musician too and I can get tired of hearing the same song or certain types of music because I work on it all the time. Im thinking your bored of what you are doing. My advise is to try doing something new. Make some music that is different than your usual stuff and always make stuff you like. If your making music that other people request its not always as fun. Being a musician is all about creativity, and if you arent expressing yourself then you will lose the pleasure of being a musician. Its happened to me many times. I always get out of it though by using my creativity to make new stuff. Last year I spent all year not wanting to do music. Musicians get writters block too.

Honestly, that's pretty weird. If you don't like music then that's fine, I went through a long period like that actually, but it seems strange to think less of people who enjoy music. Why should we be "pathetic" or "childish" for enjoying a form of art that makes us feel good? But I guess you have your reasons for feeling this way. Maybe it seems kind of frivolous?

You think lady gaga likes her music? I think making music for silly people that like it is a great job :-)

Let me ask you this; If you were an electrician and someone asked you questions while you were on your break or asked you to come over and look at their heater on your off time would it bother you? I think its completely normal that you feel that way! You've worked with music your whole life and now it might be time to do something different if its that much of a bother. Also music these days are horrible!
