Is it normal to assume someone is dead because they're not talking to you?

I've heard that it would be creepy too.. Why is that? I don't think it's creepy.. I'm just really worried. He's never gone this long without replying to me.. He probably thinks I'm a creep now and that's why he's still not talking to me.. Do you think so? Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend...
