Is it normal to assume someone is a lesbian because of butch haircut?

I met bosses mom recently and was surprised. "She's definitely a lesbian" I thought and so did two other people. She had a very short spiky haircut and had a brusque manner and dressed kind of no- nonsense sporty. Not that I'd ask but later we found out she has 4 kids and is married to a man. Was it silly to assume a strong looking woman with a butchy cut is a lesbian?

    Short hair doesnt mean lesbian.
    I have had short spiky hair cuts before and im not gay.
    And some lesbians have long hair.
    Also a girl can be more of a tomboy and not be gay.

        No... I change my hair offten as I get board with it

        Someone might just not want to deal with caring for long hair... they might have a busy life and want a quick hairstyle for it.
        There can be many reasons.

          Ive seen pretty short hairstyles on women...it was more than her hair I guess, it was her whole look. I loved Michelle William's pixie :)

            She does have a cute hair style :)

            Its probably just best not to judge right away on looks... but it can be hard not to do sometimes since we see with our eyes first lol

        A lot of older women cut their hair because its easier. This goes for mothers, Aunts, Grand mothers. If they support kids or have a job where they are constantly working out or on the field they probably are going to cut it. This is just something I observed. Of course this is not a rule that all do but a lot might. Younger women usually do it since they think its stylish or cute or they are boyish.

    Just because she's married to a man and has kids doesn't mean she's not a lesbo.
    Thers'a a lot of fags and dykes who are in arranged marriages in order to appear straight to the world.
    Me and a colleague of mine outed this couple to their religious families after we found out they were in a staged/convenience marriage. He was gay and she was a lesbian. They're families disowned them afterwards.

    I fucking hate gay people who are in the closet and keep their sexuality a secret because they don't give us the chance to shun them and make fun of their degeneracy.

    I don't think it's normal to generalize irrationally. I think it's foolish especially when you know nothing about the person.

    That's like me assuming that a fat man is that way because all he does is sit on the couch.

    Yes, its normal to ASSUME that she's gay. It's called being prejudice. Being prejudice isn't a good thing, but its what everyone becomes from time to time. I know quite a few lesbians who have similar haircuts, so if i see someone with the same type of hair, i might probably assume they're lesbian, doesnt make them gay, tho.
    like, some people pre-judge someone if they're africa-american, shirtless, with sagging pants in the street. some people would assume that he's a thug or in a gang, even if its not true. that young man might already have his life put together.
    so, yes, its normal to assume that shes lesbian. is it right? no. but dont worry, everyone does it.

    You can't tell these days about women or men (or boys and girls).

    If I brought all my mates (and myself) in a time machine from the 80's to now, pretty sure we'd think MOST of the guys are gay (makeup perfume designers clothes - say what?)
    And most of the girls have just lost their natural looks (probably too much on the Internet or something, its just decaying their looks and personality).

    Sometimes I revert back when I see some crazy looking dude and no one wants to point and laugh at them :) We may have become TOO accepting to all these stupid looks.

    Up to them to look how they want? Um, no it isn't, others may actually see them and throw up!

    Take that woman back in time > Gay definitely ;)
