Is it normal to associate some songs with certain people/events in your life?

There are a certain with which I associate my former crushes, my childhood, my best friend who passed away, my best days in school, ... Every time I listen to one of those songs it immediately lets my brain think of one of those occasions.

Yes, absolutely. There's been tons of studies that illustrate how people associate certain stimuli with memories...smells, tastes, sounds.

If you listened to certain music a lot during a specific time period, hearing it will trigger all kinds of memories. It definitely does for me...old alkaline trio = high school in Chicago & as soon as I hear it, I just flash right back & actually FEEL the same feelings.

Pretty cool that you have your own personal time machine!

Spot on mate! When a song I only listen to while working out comes on the radio, my heart rate spikes and I get muscle twitches and shit.

Yes. Think about why they play popular songs of the moment over and over again. How can you not associate a tune with a certain time?

I associate "The only Exception" by Paramore with a girl named Gioia.
