Is it normal to always bite your tongue with controversial issues

I am highly opinionated politically and internally have strong opinions on most issues. However I am scared to voice my opinions anywhere because I want to avoid burning bridges. My closest friends and family do not know my real stances on issues because I always take the middle ground. I almost never comment online or anywhere but it is becoming extremely difficult to continue doing this because politics seems to be everywhere and it is mostly opinions I strongly disagree with that I see. Am I a liar or is this normal?

That's normal. I'm politically opinionated as well, but I couldn't speak up on most issues until recently. Out of curiosity, are you a nervous or shy person? Could it perhaps be a lack of confidence?

I am pretty introverted, but I also have had major shifts in opinion over time and dont want to be branded as belonging to one group of individuals. also many of my friends have cut people with my beliefs out of their lives which I think is narrow minded, but I otherwise like the friends so I keep to myself.
