Is it normal this stuff happens to me all the time

I met this girl in a random situation and told a joke (you had to be there kind of joke). So I thought I'd ask her out given that I had made a good first impression.
So we went to a bar, had a couple of drinks and did some hardcore flirting. Then she asked me back to her place. I was pretty sure it was going to happen, I could hardly contain my excitement, you see I'm the shy nerdy type and this girl was smokin hot, way out of my league.
So we get to her apartment and we were about to go inside when I realized I didn't have any rubbers, I told her I was just going to the store to get ciggeretes and I'd be back in 5mins.

When I got down to the street I realized I didn't know what part of town I was in, I panicked and ran round the streets trying to find a store, eventually I did find a gas station and got my supplies, what a relief, then when I came out of the gas station and looked up and down the street I realized I was completely lost as I said I didn't know what part of town I was in and I hadn't thought to check the name of her street, I ran around for hours but didn't recognize any of the buildings. "why didn't you just call her" I hear you all asking, my phone was getting fixed, cracked screen.

So I just caught a taxi home and drowned my sorrows, thing is this sought of thing happens to me all the time,is it normal or am I cursed.
