You are probably allergic to diary products. Stay away from them.

    • I have confirmed that I am allergic to dairy products soon after making this post.

Staying away is easier said than done.

    Lactose intolerant?

I thought lactose intolerance causes digestive upsets rather than allergic reactions like OP's. There's a big difference between an intolerance and a severe allergy, which can cause death from anyphalyxis.

      • I do/did get digestive problems from milk in addition to the symptoms I talked about in my post. I used to get really bad stomache aches.

Sounds as if you'll just have to be careful about dairy. Is it only cows milk or do goats or sheep milk products do the same thing? I'm interested now to know if you've had this reaction all your life or if it suddenly appeared, do you have any idea what could've triggered it off.

          • I'm not sure if I am allergic to other types of dairy or if its just cow stuff. I am a little scared of finding out tho, and I avoid all milk to stay safe.

I am not sure when I got my milk allergy. But I think it got worse in 2012. I remember having trouble breathing pretty darn often.

No, I guess it wouldn't really be worth the risk. It sounds as if you're handling your allergy as best you can, but it must be inconvenient for you.

    • I thought that might be my issue. I tried lactose-free cheese and almost died tho.

Then just stay away from ALL dairy whether it contains lactose or not. Surely you were given some dietary advice at the hospital? If not you need to get some.

        • I know. I am staying away from ALL dairy. I also refuse to eat food that says it may contain traces of milk on the packaging. I dont even touch dairy and I avoid inhaling steam from dairy foods when someone cooks them.

That sounds like a severe allergy to dairy so continue to stay away from it

    • I think so too but why would I cough up blood from a food allergy? never heard of that.

Did that only happen once or what? You could see a doctor to have it checked out unless it was a while ago and hasn't recurred since.

        • it happened on a regular basis and stopped when i stopped drinking milk.it didnt happen right after drinking the milk, it was more like a delayed reaction. but I know I am allergic to dairy because i have trouble breathing after accidentally eating it

If you were coughing or wheezing violently you could've been rupturing small blood vessels in your throat or lungs, but I've never heard of this as part of an allergic reaction.
