Is it normal this guy wants to be my friend?

Okay so this guy I just met a month ago (both straight) started hanging out with me (he's a nice funny guy), which is cool, but I have this feeling that he REALLY wants to be my friend.. he does things like "conveniently" showing up between every class I have and I know he doesn't have an abundance of male friends since most of his friends are female, but I dont know what to make of this, should I be friends with him? Or should I be really weirded out and keep our friendship on the acquaintance stage? is it normal for guys to do this? Especially when he doesn't have a lot of male friends

He's a really nice guy, I just don't know if becoming good friends with him would be smart because of the way he kind of "idolizes" me in a way I guess

    What's so urgent? Why not wait and see how the acquaintanceship or friendship develops?

    He's a nice guy, he's smart, he's funny - what's to worry about?

    There may be a way for you to test the waters if keeping the friendship matters enough to you.

    But gay or straight if anyone really "idolizes" you I can't see it being that healthy of a friendship.
