Is it normal this annoys me so much (sexism)?
Ever notice how women in hollywood are perceived as fat if they're not close to underweight or underweight? But a man who is ACTUALLY fat is rarely if ever criticized for being fat?
Of course sexism still exists, we all know that but I can never understand why this still happens.
Non-celebrities and even celebrities will bash a woman if they're slightly overweight by a few pounds or obese. They'll even bash them if they're thin but not underweight and call them fat, disgusting, etc.
You can see this in the comments on youtube as well. Look at a woman who is normal or slightly overweight by 5 pounds and the comments are all about how fat and ugly she is. Go to a video of a famous male figure who is ACTUALLY OBESE and you might but very rarely find one comment about his weight.
Why does this happen? There are more male fat celebrities than fat female celebrities but even the slim ones who are actually close to underweight are STILL labeled fat/made fun of whereas the men rarely ever are. It's like the pressure to be "perfectly fake" is never enough for females.
is it normal I am always pissed over this? I'm not fat myself, I'm average but average is made fun of in the media if you're a female. But if I were a male, I know I'd be considered normal. I don't understand.
