It's not the heat, it's the temperature.

Meh- I grew up in Chicago with horrible winters, moved to Arizona as an adult with horrible summers, over 100 all the time, but "dry heat." Arizona summers were the sane as Chicago winters- you just stay inside for the most part.

Right now I'm living somewhere where there is 80-100% humidity in the summer. I didn't believe the whole "dry heat" thing in AZ, but it's TRUE. The air here is STICKY- I never get comfortable, even with my AC on. 70 degrees feels stifling. You can't even breathe. It's horrible and swampy, and the bugs are fucking prehistoric. Dry heat is sooo much better.

The only good thing about it here are the plants. Flowers grow like crazy. There's flowering magnolia and fruit trees and roses and lilacs everywhere. The parks are beautiful.

No matter where you live, you win some, you lose some. I was planning on moving to the Pacific Northwest : )

You sound like you're describing Florida. You were clearly vague on purpose so feel free not to confirm or deny my guess, I just wanted it on record.

It's the dew point, unless you're in the desert and it's over 40C.

I like it when it's dewy. My sister also has a poodle named Dewey, but him I love.

I suppose you would. The Mojave Desert rarely if ever gets dew. You must have a swimming pool.

After a certain temp hot is hot but humidity gets you to that point sooner.

I dunno, I live in the gross, dry, crusty, dusty, hot desert. I'm originally from Houston, Texas so I think a humid climate is better than an ultra dry, desert climate. Good God, the sun is like a death ray in the sky! Fuck this awful dry heat!

Have you ever been to Florida in August?

Yes, and I like it much better than the desert! I lived in Fort Lauderdale for a year before I went to college in Monroe, Lousiana, my folks had a house down there for 6 years and I loved it! I'm moving to Houston to be with my sweetheart in just over a week.

What can I say I'm a frog, not a lizard!

When its too humid its really difficult to cool down. Water has no effect and fans just make it worse. At least if its dry you can spray water on yourself.
Where i live we usually have about 80-90% humidity and its always sticky and sweaty even if its only like 10-15C. We had one day, two summers ago where it was 28C and 100% humidity, there was no escape from the heat.

        Where are you from?

I have allergies so the dry heat is HELL on my sinuses! I usually end up getting bronchitis, and a couple of sinus infections every year. Summer temperatures can reach up to 117° fahrenheit, the desert is a nightmare! When I go outside in the summer my skin turns red after five minutes, it always feels so tight and dry. I've lived in this awful purgatorium for nearly 15 years! Fuck this dry heat bullshit!

Derry in the north of ireland. Its hardly ever hot but always extremely humid. The only time it gets dry is when we get a really cold winter, but the temperature doesnt usually reach any extremes.

Well, it certainly sounds better than the desert to me.

I have lived in Taos NM, Alabama in Ala. when you got out of the shower you were sticky and wet in 10 min. I lived in Needles Ca. and when the sun just started to light the sky it went from 95 to 105. then 115. I lived in Oregon and if you didn't do what ever in the rain you didn't do it. I lived in Blythe Ca. In Blythe I would ride my motorcycle in valleys were it was 135. I carried water and the river was only 15-20 min away. I like hot better than cold.
