Is it normal the us has so many foods banned in other everywhere else?

Apparently these foods are allowed in the US but banned everywhere. Considering the US banned things like horse meat I find it surprising.

    • Well I would not change my eating habits just because a list says they are bad for me either. My point is US banned Horse and its not as though people re-guard them as pets but keep all this stuff that is suppose to be bad.

Horses aren't really my favorite kind of animal,
but you know, I wouldn't eat them.

        • I would totally eat a horse. I find it kind of sad though. If the horse does not win they just shoot it. Why is it so hard to care for a horse if it loses one race? Its not like it cant race again next one. If we are killing so many horses anyways no use in wasting all that meat. If you are going to kill something you should eat it. Since otherwise you are just wasting meat. If you are killing someone since its sick and dying well its probobly not a good idea to eat it. I just don't see why people would kill something for the hell of it.

I see what you mean. I think deer are pretty, and I wouldn't kill one, but if a hunter kills one, then he should be killing it for food, not just for the entertainment of it.

            • Yes exactly! Killing an animal pointlessly is just as stupid as killing a person. Killing is wrong and should only be done if absolutely necessarily. In the following cases is when one should kill

1.food 2.self defense 3.War(Since at that point everyone is out to kill each other anyways)4.If they are already sick and dying.

Also hunting is very unnecessary since we already have these giant factory farms butchering millions of animals and at the end of the day a lot of that food is still wasted so its pointless killing.

We should not kill an animal so we can wear it as a dress(its not sanitary and wasting of something you killed), we should not kill for the sport of it, and if we buy an animals we should not just toss it when we decide its no longer useful. I mean what if we did that to children? Well he aint useful no more "Go outside billy im going to shoot you".

Normally such bans are due to health and safely issues. However when I was scrolling thru the list of foods allowed in the US but are banned in other countries. I suddenly envisioned pressure groups from the food industries pressurising politicians to keep these substances in the local food chain.

Hey, it's all about the money, honey. If you sell a product, say beef (from Texas? where a past president or two came from), but there's another, even better, cheaper product, say horse meat, then if you have enough money and/or political pull, you can just have your competition banned.
Pretty much the way our country runs these days and very little is really done for the public welfare. Just money, honey.

I would not kill an animal either but it is needed otherwise you could not drive down the road without hitting several.

Apparently you are unaware of how expensive body repairs on vehicles cost. And that is if you don't total the vehicle. You also have to take into account if your driving a newer vehicle, you are still responsible for paying for it, and if you total it you are still obligated to pay for the vehicle. So now you have to pay for your new vehicle, and your old vehicle that you totaled by hitting an animal.
It also depends on where you live too. In Alaska they have to watch out for moose on the road. An adult moose weighs 1000 lbs+. That can be fatal and hospital and funeral bills can be expensive as well.

I don't like to hurt animals either, but hunting is needed otherwise the world would be overrun with animals and would no doubt cause a lot of issues.
