Is it normal that when i'm falling asleep, i hear voices screaming my name?

When I'm falling asleep, I hear the voices of people I know angrily yelling my name. It's a full blown auditory hallucination, in that It sounds as loud and as real as if someone was literally in my room yelling at me. Sometimes it clearly sounds like my name in the voices of my family and friends, but sometimes it just sounds like some horrible screeching noise, like scraping a chair across the floor or some kind of dying animal. It just started a few months ago and it scares the fuck out of me.

These are known as hypnagogic hallucinations and they are fairly common.

As a psychologist, I can say that there are some deep issues from your past that are working there way out of your subconscious. Now obviously they are still in there, which is why you have these voices screaming their way out. So when they do finally come out completely, you're going to start acting on these feelings, you'll be at the start of a somewhat angry existence. This will first begin with the sudden urge to poop in you hand and fling it at people. Mostly the elderly. Now be careful because this may occur while in a sleeping state (yes sleep walking). So if you live in an older neighborhood you may want to consider chaining yourself to your bed at night, or you will literally cover your neighborhood in your shit. the shit out of your bum.

  • Stop bullshitting yourself.

Or at least get off the drugs.

Do you live with someone? I'd shit my pants out of fright, so I'd try to sleep with other people to see the effect.

  • its probably your subconscious trying to tell you something. i hear voices too at night, but it isn't anything scary actually its kind of comforting in a way sometimes. if you start hearing messed up stuff its probably because theres something in your life you need to work out. if that isn't it and it bothers you a lot see a shrink because i am no professional just another nutcase on IIN

Sometimes I hear faint voices in my head saying random things when I'm trying to go to sleep. Sometimes I recognize them and sometimes they're random. It's hard to decipher what they say. It's weird.

You don't need to see a therapist or whatever, I've had it don'e to me before. It was so realistic, I actually said "Yeah?" and sat up, but they stop when I wake up fully again.
Just ignore them, and try to get more sleep. ;)

Please ignore the people who are saying you should go to a psychologist. They don't know what they're taking about

It's actually your friends and neighbors crying out your name because they are masturbating in your closet while watching you sleep

  • Just sleep with earbuds/headphones on so the music will drown out the tortured screams. 2 Unlimited is a good choice if I do say so myself.

Yeah I get this sometimes. If you look it up on the net there's a scientific explanation

Those happen to me quite a bit, especially when I'm sick or very tired. I once had Bill Clinton yelling at me and calling me stupid when I was sick, lol
