Is it normal that weed brings up forgotten childhood memories?

I've noticed sometimes after smoking weed I started having this flashbacks of my childhood. All kinds of ramdom stuff that seemed forgotten: like school, admiring my mom's hair, my dolls, etc.
Has it happened to you? Is there a particular explanation of how this works? It's interesting.

    According to my research, marijuana is bad for short term memory, but good for long term memory. My opinion, thoughts are more vivid under the influence of marijuana so they will be remembered more vividly.

    I feel like that when I watch cartoons like family guy or south park while stoned. it just takes me back to being a kid watching ed, Eddie and eddy, cow and chicken, and dragonball z on cartoon network. I feel it gives me the same child like wonderment as I used to have.

    Is it bad for short term memory... on the long term?
    This is not just a pun, I mean, is it bad for short term memory during the effects, or does it generally damage it on the long run?
