Is it normal that this happens when i'm about to fall alseep sometimes?

Sometimes at night when I go to bed and I’m about to fall asleep, I get a very weird feeling. Basically I will close my eyes and as soon as I start relaxing and falling asleep my whole body starts to tingle in an intense painful way. I’m conscious during it and I decide to open my eyes, then the feeling disappears. I will try to sleep again and it will do the same thing. Usually, at one point I’ll decide to see what will happen if I don’t open my eyes and keep falling asleep, The painful tinglyness becomes too intense at one point though and I my head feels tingly and numb, it feels like If I don’t open my eyes my brain will just shut down or something, so I have to open my eyes. It will do it about 10 times before I can finally fall asleep for real.

So far this happened about a 12 times in the past few months.
What could be wrong? Is this normal?

Try running before you go to bed...like run around the block a few times. Just don't run to much as to fatigue yourself. It will stimulate your mind and body and should help you relax enough to fall asleep normally.

This happens to me sometimes, nothing too serious to stress about. What's happening is that your body is shutting down (aka falling asleep) before your mind, that's why your conscious and you can feel what's happening. I've never experienced pain though, just the numbing (like as if I'm paralized). This is caused by bad sleeping patterns and not enough sleep ..so the best way to prevent this from happening again is to have a better sleeping schedule . Look up REM sleep for Better explanation (:
