Is it normal that the women working at maternity stores are always pregnant?

Whenever I go to or look into a Maternity clothing store, the woman working the counter is always pregnant. Every store I go to. When I go back to the same mall a few months later, it's another pregnant woman!

I don't understand if they contract for a woman to only work there for the duration of her pregnancy, if they keep her perpetually impregnated or... a pregnant suit?

Is it normal to see only pregnant woman working the counters at maternity stores?

Dont they have laws against this? That means pregnant women are rejected because they do not have a bun in the oven.

Some employers can discriminate legally. Generally, a private employer who employs less than 15 workers isn't subject to "all" employment discrimination laws. Religious organizations and Native tribes are typically exempt also.

Well that is true but religion is another matter. They can not regulate a church because the separation of church and government. So interfering with rules of church would technically be dictating what that religion does. Which is against the rules.

Sorry, I just realized I said exempt, I misspoke. They're exempt from some, not all of the laws.

Well, yes, they CAN and do in many ways. Once they become an "employer" they are subject to certain employment laws. Religious organizations have some special exceptions that allow them to discriminate based on religious affiliation *sometimes* where other employers couldn't, but they still have to abide by the other employment laws that apply.

That's funny! I've never been to a maternity store myself but it sounds logical that they'd prefer to have pregnants in there working. That would be hilarious if they actually used a pregnant suit though! I bet some do! The thought of that makes me giggle.

my phone wont let me hit reply... its not discriminatory think about it if you ound a skate shop your more likly to hire a skater or a kitchen someone who can cook. if they didnt make these typse of distinction then i could apply for a job as a phycologist and call descrimination bc they didnt hire me bc im not edgumacated
