Is it normal that the war on drugs has failed so miserably

It doesn't seem to be helping anyone and people who are addicts don't seem to get straight even in prison.Police seem to be really obsessed with marijuana and making sure it doesn't get legalized ? This makes no sense to me.

LEGALIZE, REGULATE AND TAX IT ALL.

Prohibition was an attempt to ban alcohol and it failed miserably, the only thing it accomplished was producing large quantities of bath tub booze that were often dangerous to drink, and making gangsters rich. Al Capone made 100 million dollars in a single year during the great depression off of illegal booze. And because of all the money involved and the fact that it was illegal there were regular shoot outs over it.

It took our country 13 years to realize that prohibition was a failure and that you cannot fight something like that so it is best to just legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. And after it was legalized the gangs were severely hurt due to lost revenue and the shoot outs over booze mostly stopped.

It took the USA 13 years to realize this for booze, why in the hell is it taking us decades to realize t for other drugs?

It's because everything is based around economics. That's it, that's all and it fucking sucks. Many police officers have a god complex and are on a power trip. The government doesn't give a shit about it or you if it/you doesn't(don't) benefit the system. And addicts and failures surely don't benefit them on the streets or in non profit organizations but jail time does. $$$$$$$$=power...
Ethics, fairness, and logic= jack shit son unless you invent something.
    It's fucked up right?

I doubt the corrections officers complain to much when they get a paycheck. I doubt the contractors or other supply vendors complain when they get the contracts. Pretty sure most complaints come from the over crowded prisoners. Especially the ones that are incarcerated for morality crimes like drugs. Corrections is big business in the states. Take away the reasons to lock up non violent drug offenders and alot of ppl lose there jobs.

I tend to entirely agree with you, however I myself never have used "drugs" past prescribed ones under a Dr.'s care...
