Is it normal that the french stink?

I don't mean that they're bad, it's just that they stink so much. I am currently on a vacation in Paris right now actually, and the residents here smell really fucking bad. It's especially noticeable on the metro train. So Deodorant isn't a thing in France huh? Also combine that with the smell of cigarette smoke and cheese.

  • It’s a defence mechanism so the Germans won’t come near them and they won’t have to make any more white flags.

Without french people, they wouldn't even be an USA in the first place.

      • Well, to be fair, France's military record after Napoleon isn't that great. You got your asses handed to you by Prussia in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871. Then during WW1 1914-1918, you would've gotten your asses handed to you by Germany if it wasn't for the fact that the UK helped you out. Then in the second world war, you got your asses handed to you by the nazis. Then after WW2, you got your asses handed to you by your own colonies. France is good at many things, but wars isn't one of them, along with the hygiene. And no, I am not an american.

There was no war against colonies.
What does "got your asses handed" even mean? France have won many, many wars. And I'm not implying this is a good thing.

Hygiene in France is one of the best in the world. Especially food hygiene. Wtf are you talking about?

I mean as great of a general neapolitan was a grand navel battle wasnt his forte and a colony attack would be impractical vs just land invading other European countries. Plus neapolitan only rose due to the great terror of the french revolution. And the revolution tried (and horribly failed) to emulate the USA constitution.

Wtf are you calling neapolitan? Neapolitan are people born in Naples.
The French revolution was a revolution against feudalism and monarchy. It has nothing to do with USA and their constitution.
Do you even know what you are talking about? Or are you just a troll or something?

Are any packed subway trains odour-free? Try the London Underground. Also - what's with the cheese thing?? Unless you're standing in the metro next to someone with a half-eaten Camembert in their bag, Paris does not generally smell of cheese.

The Paris metro system is especially old, and the entire city is really quite dirty. The sheer volume of people there is overwhelming. A place like that is going to smell.

Also, people are in Paris for all kinds of reasons, and most people you see in the touristy bits and on the metro aren't residents. Paris is a bit of a transport hub for the whole of France. It's one of the first places you land on arrival. A lot of people you see are just passing through on their way to other places (let's face it: who can spend an entire multi-leg journey smelling sweet?) or they might be migrant asylum seekers (who have nothing, let alone a place to shower); Paris also has a huge population of homeless people who count themselves lucky just to get a bite to eat; and many people on the metro might be working in the city centre and have a long commute home (after a long day at work you smell pretty funky, and that underground can get like an oven in late summer). Finally, (just according to something I've read), people from some countries just sweat more, and have smellier sweat. It's a sad fact of genetics that people from some African countries (for example) can shower just as much as everyone else and are still more likely to produce body odor. Paris is one of the most international places I know.

So... assuming that packed subways in European capitals aren't the sweetest smelling places in the world anyway, those are some reasons why Paris might be particularly bad.

Meh, so what. Their stinky navy, with stinky sailors kicked the British mercilessly at Yorktown in 1781. I say, give those stinkies a salute. They indirectly convinced "The Crown" to finally stop wasting money on tyranny. All the more money for you guys to buy tobacco. Having a rifle in every home is not fundamentally good for all countries. But Switzerland, Canada, and the U.S. have always been exceptional.

Ive noticed this with Romanians n Arabic’s
I think certain people just have more sweat glands cuz the DNA says so when they’re originally from warmer places
    But dunno
In big cities everybody smells, the countryside is a blessing to all ur senses

I’ve never been to France but I have French friends and they all smelt very good coupled with the movie stereotype of French people I used to assume almost all French people did smell like roses so I’m surprised to read this to be honest

It has nothing to do with France. Some ethnic groups have a smell due to their habits independently of their countries.
I've traveled to many, many countries and the French don't particularly smell anything.

I always thought the "dirty Frenchman" thing was just bs, but after meeting a few french over the years I must say that hygiene isnt a high priority for them. One french guy I worked with had to have a meeting with supervisors because others were complaining that his odor was making them nauseous and giving them headaches. It was unbelievably bad. I remember thinking I could never date a french woman.

I've also noticed this with germans and Indians as well, just not to such a degree as french.
