Is it normal that the back of my jaw where it connects...

Ok, so the back of my jaw overlaps something back there and causes my jaw to make a popping sound when I open my mouth all the way. It happens on both sides. Sometimes it can mess up and get stuck so I can only open my mouth about half the normal way and it pulls whatever it gets stuck on downwards. In order to "fix" it I have to let it rest for a few minutes to hours. Iin?

It's called, TMJ. I've had it since a Thanksgiving a few years back (I ate meat that was very chewy. My teeth weren't used to it and my jaw got popped. It was so painful when I first got it. There are exercises that you can do at home which will cure it, exercises that I need to go back to.

Same thing happens to me, and it actually kinda hurts when it clicks or pops. That all happened for me after my wisdom teeth removal a few years back, so who knows why it starts?

  • I get the same thing, but my jaw doesn't lock up or anything, just makes a clicking sound on the one side if I open my mouth a certain way or chew vigorously. Its annoying as fuck.
