Is it normal that sometimes reading is it normal posts depresses me

I should probably leave this site. The overwhelming stupidity, thoughtlessness, anger, hate and selfishness of so many who post on here depresses me some days.
For the last week, so many have posted the most depressing things. One poster repeatedly insists that doing anything to help others is wrong because he won't get anything out of it. Another posts absolutely unbelievable crap about drugs he/she has obviously never taken (and abuses those who offer sincere help), and still another wishes to have a mental disorder.
What is wrong with these people?
There are often posts by those who purport to love and admire the most heinous sociopaths in history and there was even a post by one idiot who thinks Sandy Hook was a government conspiracy! Just plain sick!
Why are so many so unhappy on here? Can't anyone post about how well their life is going and how good they feel about themselves? Doesn't anyone have a good relationship going?
This isn't supposed to be 'shock tv' is it? Why do so many portray themselves as ignorant, hateful bigots and morons?

You can't really expect a site called is it normal to be the most cheery place

  • Some people are idiots, some aren't. Expecting that to not be represented in spaces where people gather online isn't too rational.

  • People don't come here because they are normal.

If ll you can see here is the negative when there's so much positive, maybe you should get off the site.

But remember it's just like the rest of the world - a mixture of everything

For years I worked in Research & Development with Electrical Engineers having Ph.D.s, highly motivated MBAs, and the like. It felt like a pressure cooker. There was constant pressure to talk to the top of the conversation, play and innovate at the top your game, and always stay ahead of the pack with publications as well as net worth.

Then I discovered IIN. When I hear these loser stories, and twisted people whine and cry, it feels like a walk in the park on a sunny afternoon. I'll try to help them, but finally the pressure is off, and I can truly not give a fuck.

Answering the question in your title I say "yes". Answering the question at the very end I say "no", because it refers to portraying oneself as ignorant, hateful bigots and morons. IIN that the question "IIN?" refers to contradistinct positions in the same post?
As for the described observation on this site, I share your view.

    • Don't you think that many post as ignorant, hateful bigots and morons for the shock value and to troll, but aren't really like that in real life? That is the thought for the last sentence, if you didn't understand my meaning.

If you post something positive they sometimes take it down like my post about favourite poets. But not always, they kept my post about ghost movies and romantic movies. Yes there are fucked up posts. But the whole point of the site is its an alternative place for people who do or think things outside of whats 'normal.'
