Is it normal that same sex people never find me attractive?

I know a lot of gay people and I always have. I am also always the one everyone comes out to. I have no idea why but everyone comes to me with personal problems or to ask for advice. Whats odd a person could have met me 20 minutes ago and has to tell me all their secrets. Why me of all people I have no clue. Anyways back to the question.

I have always been hit on and attracted the other sex even though 90% of the time I am not interested or act totally indifferent. When I dont specify my gender online people assume I am male and apparently if people think I am male I am a sexy male. Even though I act like I do in real life. Helpful and completely indifferent.

I recently made friends with someone but this person is gay and married. They said they are surprised when I told them that no, no one of the same sex have ever taken interest in me. They said "You know I bet you could get any male or female you wanted". I said I dont think I have what it takes to attract a same sex partner only a other sex partner even if I was interested in dating one. All gay friends I have said even if I was gay they would never be interested in dating me.

I guessing I generally place myself in the best friend zone since I am just so helpful but that has not stopped people from chasing me before. So is it normal same sex people dont find me attractive ever? My friend seems to be shocked. I just thought there was a different set of rules for gay people to date and I simply dont fit the bill but since I dont really enjoy dating same or other sex it does not bother me much.

it's normal. What's not normal is how much concern/thought you're giving to something so... frivolous.

    • Im jut curious how peoples brains work. I thought gay people were the same as straight people but just liked the same sex. The more you know the better you might understand the world and the people in it.
