Is it normal that people think i'm lesbian because i support homosexuals?

Ok so I really I mean REALLY fucking hate homophobic people. And literally everyone excpet for my best friend is homophobic asshole. I'm straight but whenever I show how much I support gay rights my "friends" just yell at me I must be lesbian. Well guess what? I don't fucking have to be lesbian to support them ok? What's wrong with this society? My family raised me to be Christian and homophobic like them (I became atheist when I was 12) so now they just want me to change my mind and hate homosexuals as they do. And when I tell them I just don't want to they just say I'm lesbian...
Is it normal to have such a stupid people around me?

It just shows how selfish people are. I talked about women's rights and everyone thought I must be a woman. Why? Because everyone is so focussed on getting exactly what their gender, colour, or class deserves that they can't see the viewpoint of anything other than what gains them most?

Sadly, a lot of people do see it this way. There are people who think selflessness is weakness and that defending someone is only worth it if you gain something.

Also, there are times when you are of the gender, colour or class of what you are defending and you are defending it for a reason.

I'm hoping education and time might change some of that. Lately, with increasing awareness of intersectionality, I think there's been more cooperation between various civil rights and social justice movements. The internet helps a lot. There are definitely still people who only support movements that directly benefit them, though, such as gay rights supporters who oppose trans rights, white feminists who ignore issues facing women of colour, and Richard Dawkins.

I don't have much hope that the concepts of intersectionality and kyriarchy will be particularly mainstream anytime soon, but hopefully activists and sociologists can at least get their shit together.

I have got to agree with you there.

I have been accused of being a traitor to my race and undeserving of my skin color as well as wanting "preferential treatment" for non-White people for nay-saying claims that White people are the superior race and that racism no longer exists. I think both notions are bullshit and somehow that makes me a traitor to a skin color. I'm sure my few melanin cells are pretty pissed off at me.

  • Many of the people deemed "homophobic" aren't. Instead they just act that way because they're sick of hearing everyone go on about gay rights and how cool they are for supporting them. Some people realise that gays are the same pieces of shit that straights are, and treat them as such. It's all attention seeking "look at me, look at me".

Most of you CUNTS support gay rights only for the novelty, and to feel good about yourselves. You selfish little turtle rapists.

    • This made me laugh. Gay people are actually discriminated in my country and people treat them like shit just because they're not straight. I know there are as many gay idiots as straight ones but I will treat idiot as idiot no matter what his sexuality is. However most of gay people I know are much nicer because they've been treated bad their whole life for being gay and they just want people to accept them.
And I support them because they have same rights as us and I don't really feel better about it I'm just against any discrimination.

          • Yeah, I was talking about more western type cultures. Where people are more comfortable making choices and spouting views unto others without fear. Americans, Australians, the English. That type of thing.

Everyone says my bestfriend is a lesbian just because she has short hair. Once my ex-friend spread a rumor that me and my bestfriend were going out just because she had short hair and I'd been single for quite a few years. Little shit

Somebody here thought I was black because of something I said about racism.

Where do you live and what kind of people are you hanging around?

Even when I lived in North Carolina, people weren't so... vicious!

    • All my friends are like that. They just won't accept anything untill it becomes mainstream and then they suddenly like everyting about it... I'm not sure about this case though.

People are stupid I don't really do anything to "support" homosexuals but I don't hate on anybody that decides to live the way they want because their love life is in no way shape or form incorporated into mine. Your friends sound like clowns for making you think for even a second what you're doing is wrong

It's an easy way for narrow minded people to invalidate someone else. Make them into something or someone you don't approve of to make yourself feel more secure in your own "convictions"
