Is it normal that people like me but i don't like them?

I don't have many friends, but it isn't because I'm unlikable. A lot of people I go to college with like me and occasionally ask me to hang out, but I always turn them down. It's not that I specifically dislike them or anything, and I try to reciprocate friendly behavior, but I've never felt like I would enjoy spending time with them, so I end up just keeping to myself. I don't want to be alone, but I also don't want to hang out with people I don't really like just to avoid being alone.

Is it normal to be like this?

Why don't you give them a chance? If you're really bored after an hour you can always leave. Sometimes the nights you expect to be so boring are the ones when you get the best laugh. If you stop accepting all invitations, people are going to stop asking you.

Anyway, you could do what I do - leave them and fall in with other company who seem like good fun. You never know who you might meet when you are out - maybe a love interest?!

It will continue throughout your whole life. Just find people you actually want to hangout with.

I think this is totally normal. I have friends in classes that are nice to talk to about college stuff and whatnot but when it comes down to it...I just don't see myself in a social setting with them.
