Is it normal that my wife got offended with comedy central?

My wife and I were watching Tosh.0 on Comedy Central and he cracked a joke about deaf people at a party. Her sense of humor is rather... limited and being that she has worked with deaf kids, she took such great offense to that joke that she wrote several angry letters to CC and is considering starting a Facebook/Twitter campaign to get Tosh.0 banned =/

I think she is really taking this overboard. Is it normal?

  • It's freaking Tosh.O!! If your wife is uptight and easily offended, watching that show was mistake number one. I am a huge fan of Tosh and have spent all day watching a Tosh.O marathon. Yes, he is super offensive, but really, it's all in good dirty fun. I get so annoyed when people are easily offended and go around acting like "I am offended, and my feelings are so f-ing important, I am going to try enforcing my attitude upon EVERYONE, because that was SO OFFENSIVE to ME! ME ME ME!" stfu.

Go tosh! That's what makes him so funny. He just doesn't give a shit. Tell your wife to get over herself.

Yeah, she's going a bit overboard with that. That show makes fun of everybody. It would be a waste of time on her part to start a campaign that's not going to get results.

I work with children with disabilities and I completely understand your wife. Laughing at someone's misfortune is not nice, would you laugh if someone made a joke about cancer?

Dont take anything Tosh.O says seriously. Other than if he says "Kids dont try this at home". I don't think he probably believes most of the crap he says. He just likes to make fun of events and current affairs.

He also made sexist jokes but I don't think that how he feels about women. Hes a comedian! His job is to make fun of stuff and make people laugh. If you go to a comedy show often they will make fun of audience members.

Does that mean they have anything against the audience member? No probably not. They just wanted to make a joke. Comedians and comedian shows are not meant to be taken seriously ever when they insult people. There intention is not really to slander anyone.

  • That's quite an over reaction. Comedy is often susposed to be offensive. Her letters will only be laughed at. Tell her not to be so sensitive.

  • Your sister needs to know that most jokes have a jokey-victims in each jokes, as they end to be aimed at a person or a type of group.

I admire that she cares so much about deaf children. But, yeah, she might be overreacting considering everyone gets made fun of.

Besides, Tosh is not funny whatsoever, give him a break. He's doing the best he can.

Eh, it's technically normal. A lot of people get super sensitive with things nowadays, so I'm basing the definition on that. She really should just ignore it and not watch the show, though.
