my nine year old cousin and my sister have come over for Christmas and I was just trying to make conversation with her and I asked her what her favourite music was she said rock and when I asked who her favourite band was she said marilyn manson is it normal for kids to like this kind of music
I liked marilyn manson when i was little because of my older sister. Im curious how a 9 year old today came across his music.
Ive been listening to rock since at least 8, and i guess before then cause my dad always listened to kshe95.

These days yes it is but I'm still always as astonished as you. I guess that's the same way our grandparents feel about us. I will never let my kids go on like this though, if I have some hopefully soon...
I hope that you do not ever get kids if you will not allow them to listen to the music they like.
I don't see how being a bad parent has anything to do with not wanting my little child to listen to rock music until they are able to comprehend its meaning.
Rock music is way better than mainstream-music about fucking whores and getting rich and spoiled isn't it?
And let's be honest I LOVE Marilyn Manson but sometimes it's hard to hear what he sings and I highly doubt that a nine year old is able to fully get the lyrics.
Some rock music lyrics are the same as what you described. And you didn't answer my question because it doesn't make me a bad parent at all. The nine yr old won't understand but will soon be inquisitive and find out. There are much better alternatives to entertain the kid and music which will actually educate and stimulate the child. Research has been done and there can be subconscious harmful effects of such music.

You show lack of respect for your child by interrupting what he or she would want to listen to.
It is your job as parent to make sure that your child is educated and stimulated. Rock music helped me through so much in my adolescence.
