Is it normal that my sister named her children these things?

I have a 4-years-older sister (she's 34) who has 4 kids named Suicune, Celebi, Dratini, and Pikachu. I find it a bit strange that she would give my nieces and nephews the names of Pokémon.. IIN?

Now they're destined to either absolutely love or absolutely hate Pokémon.

Those are names for pet lizards. Or possibly sci if novel characters. It's not Youneeek, it's just stoopid:/

And that is why some people shouldn't be allowed to have children.

That's what people do these days; name people after characters they like. My best friend in high school named his child Vincent Valentine. After the FF VII character.

What is her name? Shit For Brains?
Stupid names get kids teased and hurt.

Suicune actually sounds like a decent name. The others... not so much.

I think that "Celebi" and "Dratini" could possibly (strong emphasis on possibly) pass as exotic names, especially since they aren't widely popular Pokemon. Pikachu will probably get teased. Suicune... I dunno.

If they are common names that are pop-culture based, that's fine, but unusual names such as the examples above, will just follow these poor kids around and they will be teased about it all throughout school.

Side note: In my line of work I see people's names and dates of birth. I thought it was really interesting to see someone with the name of Elliot who was born in 1982 (the year E.T. was released). I also saw a Wilma who was born in 1960 (the year the Flintstones debuted).

Well I knew of this guy who had three daughters. The oldest was named Hillary but he called her Larry. His second daughter was named Espn after his favorite sports network. And his youngest he named Lou after Lou Ferrigno. I think he really wanted three boys.

When I have kids, I'm going to call them normal names :P
