Is it normal that my school friend is dating an older guy?

So here's the deal. My friend is 16, almost 17, she's gorgeous and always into older guys, but as far as I know her current boyfriend is in his mid thirties and (I'm not sure if she was joking or serious) a police officer. I warned her that he might go to jail, but she told me she is old enough. Indeed in our state the age of consent is 16, so does that mean they are good? She is a troubled teen and has some family issues, so talking to her parents is not an option. I really wanna help her out, I just have no idea what to do. That's where I would take a good advice.

    He's probably a crooked cop as well as cradle robber! Drug dealers probably pay that guy off to make sure the cops stay off their asses, because obviously he's a predatory person with no moral compass.

    Okay, let's be real though. Why would a grown man date a high school student? That's when your friend needs to be considering why he can't get a girl his own age.
    Frankly, any adult that will knowingly date a minor, especially with that big of an age gap, should definitely be avoided at all costs because that's just fucked up.
    However, if your state's unrestricted age of consent is 16, then yes, it's legally allowable. Where you live, anyone above the age of 16 can legally have sex or a relationship with anyone else older than 16.

    Still, it's sketchy to say the least.

      But the guy is a policeman, doesn't that mean he is in a different position, like authorities, all that kind of stuff? I mean is it still legal for a police officer to date a child?

    I like guys that are up to 10 years older than me but I'm older done with college and all that so its a little different but I guess you could say I was a troubled teen to so I don't know if its that different after all.
