Is it normal that my periods are this heavy

It's really hard to go somewhere without fear of leaking. It's also hard to go to sleep on my period without having the same fear of leakage. When it's at its heaviest stage, I have to put toilet paper between my legs because the pad alone won't help enough

Periods as heavy as that are a medical issue. If I were you I'd see a doctor about it: could be endometreosis, fybroids, something else curable

How do you know she didn't edit her long ass post before you responded to my comment? lol

    • I do use maxi pads. It's just that my periods are so heavy that I need toilet paper for support

Buy the most expensive "heavy-flow" pads and tampons on the market and that's pretty much all you can do to fix it.

PS: Someone I know well put up with long heavy periods until guess what? she collapsed, was taken to hospital and needed to have her uterus removed because the heavy bleeding was caused by an untreated non-malignant tumor, which could've been easily removed with no hysterectomy if she'd had it checked out earlier.

Not saying this is OP's problem but who knows if she doesn't have it checked out?

No, it's a medical issue which needs to be checked out

I am being serious here, try using adult diapers.

Might have abnormal hormones. Check dr.

I'm not female but I do wonder why not use a good brand of tampon in conjunction with a maxi pad? How that won't fix the problem is beyond me.

It's absolutely normal for me, I was advised by the other women in my family who experience the same to use tighter supporting underwear and double the maxi pads so that from front to rear you are covered. Also, change frequently and wash well.

Mine can get like that sometimes and I learned the hard way that Tampax Radient's 100% leak free tampon's are not leak free. XD Perhaps you should do what I'm not doing: see a doctor. They can find out what's causing it, treat it, and/or maybe give you some contraceptives that will shorten your cycle.

I think it's pretty common and normal but I choose to medicate

Fun, isn't it. Mine is pretty heavy too. I don't like or use the big pads but I go through ultra tampons every 2 hours after the first day :( and I use panty liners for backup but it's not always enough. Damn it. I am pleased though, that the last few months my periods seem to end after 5 days which is way better than the 7 days I've dealt with for as long as I can remember. I'm sick of this bloody nonsense!

American tampons are a size smaller than Australian ones. Found that out the hard way :/

BUT...we don't have ultra. It seems to be a size or two better than our highest.

I would gladly do away with my evil reproductive system but I don't wanna go through menopause either. Damn it. Damn it all!

I'd considered it, too, cos I hadn't figured that would be the result. I are smart :/

Look into endometrial ablation. Unless you want children.

I thought about it but we're undecided about kids.

It didn't occur to me either until a few years ago when my friends sister had to have a hysterectomy. I is not smart neither :(

Google NovaSure (or endometrial ablation). It is a procedure to lighten or stop periods.
