Is it normal that my parents compared..

first my dad, he compared me with my brother who got nearly 3.8 GPA and got full scholarships for his master degree. Cause of my brother's undergraduate academic fees, I have to take a break from my university and come back to my country to support his academic fees. And today he said "I haven’t seen any of your qualities yet. Your brother had shown his qualities. Look at your GPA and your brother GPA and scholarship. " and my GPA is just a bit over 3.

mum always compared me my female cousin who is the same age as me and have a good education for her primary,middle, high school in SG and she got full scholarship for her pre-university. We come from different background, I take just normal school in my country and study in other asia country and mum said "I am comparing you with her. What if you get low salary then her one day." I am not her. why are you comparing me with her?

I am soo tired of both of them.

    Everyone always wants the best for themselves. It is the best your parents value and you are not the best academically. It is normal for parents to compare you to others as a form of trying to make you work harder to please them.

    It sounds like your values don't match your parents and you have to decide what matters more.
    Pleasing your parents and hiding your real needs and desires and suffering that you do not get to be what you actually want. Or
    Being yourself and doing what you want to accomplish in life and suffer your parents dissapointment.

    Myself, I didn't care that my parents wanted me to go to college. I tried for a while but I am so antisocial that I did not continue because there was too much group work involved. Also I have known all my life that I don't need the best things in life to be happy and that I like just getting by,living a frugal lifestyle with a minimum wage job that is practically stress free.
    I have a gf and a son and we are getting by and life is good.
