She checks his history, sent texts, and she does it totally out of the blue random, makes him get off and searches through his stuff.
Sounds like stuff my mom used to do. She needs to let him have his own business.
Not normal, or healthy behavior. She's teaching him distrust in my opinion.
If I get kids,I would monitor their activities online up until maybe ... 15 years of age, but I would not snoop in their private conversations with their friends. But I would want to know who my children contacts on the internet.
And I would want to know if someone is being mean to them online or tries to make sexual advances.
