Is it normal that my mom likes to show me off?

I'm 20 years old. I have a boyfriend, a well paying health service job and a cat. My mom enjoys "showing me off" as she puts it whenever we have our mother daughter outings or she's visiting friends. She seems to want as many people to see her daughter as possible. It puts me in mind of those pageant shows where the mom is trying to live through her kids, only my mother isn't forcing me to do anything. I guess I should be happy that she's proud of my life. IIN?

    My dad is that way with my younger brother. He's college educated and makes a decent amount of money. Though it's also partially due to my older brother being a huge jerk. But anyway, it's normal for a parent to be proud.

    it sounds as if she's really proud of you, which is a nice contrast to all the "My mom hates me and I hate her" posts on IIN.

    If it makes you uncomfortable, gently tell her so and ask her to tone it down a bit
